Jess and Kyle knew they wanted a “non-traditional” wedding from the start.
“We didn’t have a specific day of the week in mind. We knew we wanted it in August & the first of the month seemed like the perfect date to start our new chapter. As funny as it is, we also wanted to make sure it looked good written out since we would be seeing it forever,” Jess noted.
Ultimately, their Thursday wedding was a perfect excuse to give their friends & family an early start to the weekend!
“It also gave us some time to truly relax & enjoy our weekend up north afterwards since we waited a few months to take our honeymoon (so glad we did that!) Taking that extra time after
our wedding to enjoy the day together on a lake in Northern Michigan with our puppy is such a special memory for us,” Jess says.
The theme of the wedding all started with Jess’s dream Christian Louboutin wedding shoes that Kyle proposed with! The dark green became their base and they kept the rest natural with minimal sage green, cream and a little golden glow.
“We wanted it all truly authentic with just our close friends & family. Kyle tells me I’m his “North Star,” I’m the center that guides him so there was little star accents everywhere. I think he fell in love with my star crown even more than I did,” Jess says about details of her day.
“Everything was so warm & glowing; my dad actually hung 300 strands of lights in the bushes (he’s such a rockstar for doing that!) The sun just happen to hit the water perfectly for us to feel like we were in the movie “Mamma Mia” (perfect since ABBA is our favorite band).
I didn’t want flowers because Northern Michigan beauty speaks for itself, so William at Monarch topped it off with a wreath for our sweet brides dog, draped greenery & candles illuminating our night.
The theme just fell into place itself,” Jess adds. “I think anyone who knows us would say it was so Kyle & Jess.”
“Stafford’s understands authenticity & that means a lot to us,” Jess & Kyle said.
“Angie & the whole team put their hearts into it because they know you do. It makes a difference when the staff wants to be there & that only happens under great leadership. I adore all of the Stafford’s staff, I really can’t speak highly enough of every single person I worked with throughout the whole experience. Since I was a super nontraditional bride it meant a lot to me to have people who understood us & our vision.” Jess writes.
Their photographer, Mary, also noted “Your wedding pics don’t know what day it is!” And she is absolutely right!
